Calico Patch Quilt Shop

About Us
I would like to welcome you to our web site. I'll start by introducing myself. I'm Joy Reich, the proprietor of the Calico Patch Quilt Shop. I've been married 32 years to my husband and partner in life Leonard. I have two grown sons, Leonard Jr. who we call JR, who is married to a wonderful gal named Helen, and Joseph who is a Staff Sgt. in the Marine Corp. I began quilting 13 years ago and must confess that in the beginning I didn't care much for it, but as most of you know if you give it a little time that quilting bug gets way down deep. Almost immediately after I was hooked I knew I would have a shop. I went to work at the Calico Patch when it was originally located in a nearby community. Seven years ago, when the shops owner decided to retire I knew it was meant to be. I bought the shop and moved it to my home town of North East, Pennsylvania, and have never looked back. It was in this quaint historic town that I created a very customer friendly environment of fabrics, notions and all things quilt related.

I currently have a staff of 5 cohesive quilters, each of which brings her own quilting flavor to the store. There is Sally with her unique feel for the contemporary and the use of bright colors. Donna lets you feel that any quilt or tote bag of any type is always possible. Lois always ensures that the fat quarter table is full and ready for any customer to pull colors together for that very "special quilt". Carolyn Probst never fails to give the customer and the staff that warm and welcome feeling. Debbie Shepler the only other full timer besides myself is skilled in color selection and what I consider my 30's gal. All of my staff is more than happy to help you with all your quilting questions. If we don't know the answer I guarantee we will do our best to get it for you.

We carry approximately 1500 bolts of fabric ranging all the way from Civil War to 30's Reproductions, Batiks, novelties, flannels and plaids; from companies such as Moda, Benartex, Michael Miller, P&B, Clothworks, and RJR. Specializing in the Thimbleberries line, the shop offers membership in the "Thimbleberries Club". We offer a wide variety of classes quarterly that are scheduled during the weekday, evening or weekend. You will also find us vending at various quilt shows in the tri-state area along with doing Trunk Shows for quilt guilds.

I hope you'll stop by and spend some time with us. We are a learning and teaching shop and are always happy to help in your quilting endeavors.
